FISHING 101
Let me set the scene for you.
I was somewhat bummed after hours of standing in a fishing hole, getting roasted on the right side of my body ONLY...and not catching ANY fish...not one single fish. I was surrounded by fisherman. You must understand that by fisherman, I mean, they are pro's. Let me describe what was going on with me and my waders (borrowed- which I filled with h20....oopsies!) Ok, so back to me. I got my fishing line tangled up more times, than not...however, I had a fantastic coach, who kept patiently untangling me, and after awhile I think I got the hang of it. I was hoping that my new found fishing skills would have me pulling fish out of the water right and left - I was sorely mistaken - ZERO - what is that you ask? That is the number of fish I caught in the fishing hole. Zip, Ziltch, Nada.....
It was not until my fishing coach, who sensed my determination to bring home a fish....took me to another location, and got me all set up with my secret weapon - cheese whiz on a hook. I am telling you - I love that cheese whiz. So we scout out the fish, he gets the line all ready and in the water...then, get this...he walks away...I know, I know, I was a little nervous too. He strolls down the way and leaves me to battle with this little fishy all alone. By this point, I think I was talking to the fish, trying to persuade him that nibbling on that ball of cheese whiz would change his life forever...I just didn't have the heart to tell the fishy in what way...
Well, I am convinced my coach knew exactly what would happen. As soon as he was out of site, that fish got a craving for some cheese and bit!! I was yelling, so excited, and trying to recall what the next steps were...Do I yank back, drag the fish until it was tired, reel in....it was a blur. The poor 8 year old boy down the bank was traumatized, I'm sure, by the screaming lady. For those of you lost in my story, that was me...I am the screaming lady. Luckily my sweet coach came running, and helped me get the fish in - he asked me if I wanted to keep it. My response, "Um, YEAH!!!" He then proceeded to rip the fishy's guts out...
At the end of the day, I was able to say I had caught my first fish!!
And I am not gonna lie...I had a fun time!
Thanks Coach!!

How cute are you with your fish!! At least it was not so small you could not see it - now that is an accomplishment! By the way, did he get a cracker to go with his cheese?
